Lace & Steel
Lace & Steel is the sibling studio to Velvet & Chrome. It’s more than a studio— it’s a community for beginner and experienced pole dancers alike. The studio owner, Ellen entrusted me with the interior design and branding assets of the space.
Ellen wanted the concept to be same but different to V&C. I presented her with concepts that leaned victorian but with a more femmine, lighter and softer color palette. We really played up the lace for the branding and interiors.
I spent months sourcing the decor and furnishings one estate sale and Facebook market place meetup at a time. My color pallete was creme , a deep cherry and charcoal with pops of gold. The pieces I sourced were ornate and of the victorian era.
Because everything was second hand, I hand-painted and spray painted a lot of the decor to corollate with my color scheme. When you walk into the studio you’re met with an open concept studio with tall ceilings and floor to ceiling windows. I made the room feel like a hug by color drenching it in the deep cherry paint.
The windows are decked in draped antique and vintage lace. We went this route rather than frosting the windows for privacy from street views. The windows serve as a beautiful layered permanent instillation that can be enjoyed from the inside and outside of the studio.
The branding assests were done in collaboration with Mister Baby. We worked together to bring my concepts to a real brand!
